Hurricane

So I have 13 minutes until my laptop battery dies so I will make this quick and expound later.

Katrina for us was not that bad, in fact in comparison to the folks west of us it was great. We
were without power for about 16 hours, but we hung out at a friends house and had a good time. I really wish there was more that I could do to help the people really hurt and displaced by the hurricane. Other than donating money and prayers I don't know of anything else. If you know of another way to help tell me about it.

For the most part I love my new laptop. I have had quite a few issues with it in the beginning but I think everything is dandy now. Only a few minutes left so I will post again soon, once I find a power outlet.

Movies, Laptops, and other stuff

So my classes have totally flipped around for this semester and I am in a class called the History of Motion Pictures I. It's a course that explores what else but, The history of Motion Pictures up to 1945. You may be saying to yourself, "Self, that sounds like a pretty cool class." Well I am here to tell you it's not, well it may be for a couple of you, and you know who you are. To give you an idea of how uncool the class is, the prof. started out with this opening line,

"No one knows when motion pictures really began, but we can probably trace it back 2000 years to a cave in France where we found drawings of a bull"

What did the cavemen do, run back and forth while staring at the drawings thinking they were moving? The prof. proceeded with the history of film, who created it, who developed the technology for the first "video" camera, all the different scopes and various other things. Basically the history from 1825 to 1905.
Here is a brief History.

All of this got me thinking. If it took us basically 75 years to get the whole motion picture thing (without sound) to work, but in the last say 75 years we have gone from silent films to DVD and HD,where are we going to be in another 75 years. I just can't seem to process all of this. I know that 150 years ago nobody would have ever imagined things would come this far, what are we going to come up with next. Do you think that we will finally perfect 3D technology or maybe the whole Hologram thing. But maybe, just maybe, some great mind will come up with seomthing so beyond those things. Something we could never have imagined. I hope its only used for good, not evil.

Moving on, Dell shipped my new laptop today. If you didn't already know, my copmuter just can't handle all of the crap I am doing with it. It just gets too bogged downed with all the graphics programs I am using. My new machine is a beast and will be here between Tuesday and Thursday. I sold my old computer and I am shipping it off tomorrow but I should still be able to get online and update, if I have anything to say.

I finally got my gas guzzler back today from the body shop. The 4-5 day repair turned into 9-10 days, but for the record it was the parts guys fault not the shop, and they hooked me up with some free extras for the trouble.

Well other than the hurricane that will be knockin on the door in a couple days I don't anticipate anything grand. I will let you know if something happens.
