What is this?

Okay, so a few weeks ago I posted an ad on craigslist listing some furniture for sale. I was selling some old furniture of my grandmothers that included a bedroom set and a recliner for $150.00. I was completely upfront about the condition and age of the furniture. I sold the furniture with no problems and even had quite a few offers afterwords. What gets me is the response I got just a couple of days ago. Maybe one of you readers can enlighten me to the logic behind sending this to me 6 weeks after I posted the ad.
The follwing email has been posted complete and unedited. Please let me know what you think.

"i've viewed so much stuff thus far here in pensacola that i finally HAVE to make a comment to someone. im from seattle and the stuff you're selling would be placed on "free items" list. in fact, the EXACT chester of draws you are selling for 100.00 sat near my street corner for three days (in seattle) with a "im free" note on it before it was carted away. those chester of drawers were in hotels all over the country in the sixties and seventies... then there are the people that are selling things for 50 bucks that they could advertise in san fran, chicago, seattle or NY and get 20 times the amount. I'm not going to point out what because thus far I'm making a killing. No wonder people down here think the bible is true and bush is telling the truth.....they're idiots. "

Controversial, I thought about it but...nah.

So two weeks ago I witnessed an exchange between two people that really irked me. I mean it drove me up a wall, and I thought "this is something i should definitely rant about on the blog." Then I got all busy with work and I lost the fire and I didn't post it, so you still aren't going to get anything real interesting.

I got a job at a local bookstore to make some extra money for the holidays. I can't wait until I graduate and I never have to work retail ever again. All the perks of working at a bookstore that everyone dreams about, they're true. I get a great discount, I can check out books for 14 days as long as I bring them back uninjured, and depending on which store I am in I can read on the clock. I just don't understand why managers can't get scheduling figures out. I have had to do scheduling for over 75 employees, yes it was difficult and I complained but I managed to make it work. If you hire someone that is part time and only wants 20 hours a week, why would you regularly schedule them 35 hours when other people are begging for hours. I just don't get it.

That's right I am working 35 hours a week and going to school. Yeah I know Wah!Wah!Wah! I can hear you all now, "So what Lisa, you're not the first or the last. I did it and I am a better person because of it, at least it's just for the holidays." Well, I have worked full time and gone to school full time, my fair share too. It's just now I have the munchkin. I feel like I could spend forever with her and it would never be enough. For those of you that don't have kids (and yes I know you have heard it before), until you have kids you will never know that you are capable of this kind of love, it is unbelievable.

Oh! I finally found out that I am interning with the United Way in the spring. I am hoping that even though it doesn't pay now it will later.

And for the man with the golden horse shoe, I bought my first lottery ticket this past Wednesday and I won $4.00. Yes! FOUR WHOLE DOLLARS!

The Postal Service

I am usually the last person to discover something coool in the world of music. I'm not very cutting edge or innovative or indie or anything like that. So most of you have probably already heard of The Postal Service, burnt out and moved on. Well, just in case you haven't, here you are.

(Video Clip was here, currently disabled so as not to annoy the crap out of you)

Hurricane

So I have 13 minutes until my laptop battery dies so I will make this quick and expound later.

Katrina for us was not that bad, in fact in comparison to the folks west of us it was great. We
were without power for about 16 hours, but we hung out at a friends house and had a good time. I really wish there was more that I could do to help the people really hurt and displaced by the hurricane. Other than donating money and prayers I don't know of anything else. If you know of another way to help tell me about it.

For the most part I love my new laptop. I have had quite a few issues with it in the beginning but I think everything is dandy now. Only a few minutes left so I will post again soon, once I find a power outlet.

Movies, Laptops, and other stuff

So my classes have totally flipped around for this semester and I am in a class called the History of Motion Pictures I. It's a course that explores what else but, The history of Motion Pictures up to 1945. You may be saying to yourself, "Self, that sounds like a pretty cool class." Well I am here to tell you it's not, well it may be for a couple of you, and you know who you are. To give you an idea of how uncool the class is, the prof. started out with this opening line,

"No one knows when motion pictures really began, but we can probably trace it back 2000 years to a cave in France where we found drawings of a bull"

What did the cavemen do, run back and forth while staring at the drawings thinking they were moving? The prof. proceeded with the history of film, who created it, who developed the technology for the first "video" camera, all the different scopes and various other things. Basically the history from 1825 to 1905.
Here is a brief History.

All of this got me thinking. If it took us basically 75 years to get the whole motion picture thing (without sound) to work, but in the last say 75 years we have gone from silent films to DVD and HD,where are we going to be in another 75 years. I just can't seem to process all of this. I know that 150 years ago nobody would have ever imagined things would come this far, what are we going to come up with next. Do you think that we will finally perfect 3D technology or maybe the whole Hologram thing. But maybe, just maybe, some great mind will come up with seomthing so beyond those things. Something we could never have imagined. I hope its only used for good, not evil.

Moving on, Dell shipped my new laptop today. If you didn't already know, my copmuter just can't handle all of the crap I am doing with it. It just gets too bogged downed with all the graphics programs I am using. My new machine is a beast and will be here between Tuesday and Thursday. I sold my old computer and I am shipping it off tomorrow but I should still be able to get online and update, if I have anything to say.

I finally got my gas guzzler back today from the body shop. The 4-5 day repair turned into 9-10 days, but for the record it was the parts guys fault not the shop, and they hooked me up with some free extras for the trouble.

Well other than the hurricane that will be knockin on the door in a couple days I don't anticipate anything grand. I will let you know if something happens.
